Paris prosecutors have reported receiving approximately 20 statements from alleged victims connected to the late Jeffrey Epstein, as part of an ongoing investigation into human trafficking activities linked to Epstein's network in France.

Expanding Investigation Targets Trafficking Facilitators

The Paris public prosecutor, Laure Beco, disclosed on May 17 that around ten additional potential victims have come forward, bringing the total number of statements to approximately 20. The investigation aims to identify possible intermediaries who may have facilitated Epstein’s criminal operations on French soil.

"At this stage, no individuals who may be held accountable have yet been questioned," Prosecutor Beco stated, emphasizing the initial priority to collect testimonies before pursuing further evidence.

The procedural approach involves first gathering detailed accounts from alleged victims, followed by analyzing physical evidence. Subsequent investigative steps will include forensic examination of data retrieved from Epstein’s electronic devices, analyzing telephone conversations, and scrutinizing address books.

Background: Epstein’s Criminal History and Ongoing Legal Fallout

Jeffrey Epstein, an American financier, was convicted in 2008-2009 for operating a prostitution ring and faced renewed charges in 2019 for coercing minors into prostitution. He was found dead in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial. Since then, a significant volume of legal documents and evidence related to Epstein’s crimes has been made public.

In December 2025, the first batch of case files was released, followed by an extensive disclosure on January 30, 2026, which included over three million pages of documents, 2,000 videos, and 180,000 images. These revelations have implicated numerous individuals and institutions connected to Epstein’s network.

Among notable repercussions, British Prince Andrew lost his royal title due to documented associations. Additionally, JPMorgan Chase agreed to a $290 million settlement with victims, acknowledging the bank’s long-standing financial relationship with Epstein.

The U.S. Department of Justice has identified more than 1,200 victims in the amassed case materials. The ongoing inquiries in France reflect a broader international effort to dismantle human trafficking networks linked to Epstein and hold collaborators accountable.

This extended investigation into French connections underlines the complexities of transnational trafficking schemes and the challenges law enforcement faces in prosecuting such entrenched criminal operations.
